Peshawar, the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the oldest city of Pakistan holds an extremely
important location both geographically and strategically in the region. Peshawar's history dates
back to 539 BCE which is reflected widely in its cultural spaces, art, architecture, museums and
monuments.
However, Peshawar has witnessed rapid urbanization in last few years, posing huge threats to its
rich architectural traditions. Being the Capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the city holds a unique
niche in all aspects of human life including economic, social and educational well-being. This
rapid and haphazard urban planning has not only disturbed the city landscape but affected the
heritage buildings and built area. Establishment of the Department of Architecture at UET
Peshawar aims to serve this purpose by creating awareness in the general public towards the
preservation of preciously built heritage with shared responsibility and ethics. The Department of
Architecture will train professionals who could play their valuable role in formulating policies
for the promotion of sustainable built environment. As a student, you will gain a rigorous
education under the supervision of a highly qualified faculty and vibrant environment of
university.
The Department aims to strive for the highest level of Architectural Education by promoting innovative role in architectural practices and amalgamation of multidisciplinary education which is a composite of science, art and technology.
