Huawei Authorized Information and Network Academy
A formal MoU signing ceremony was held on 26 August 2020, where University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Peshawar was awarded the status of Huawei Authorized Information and Network Academy (HAINA). The goal of HAINA at UET Peshawar is to train young engineers and scientists in acquiring serviceable cognitive and psychomotor skills in operating and deploying ICT modules for design and development of various solutions. The certifications offered in HAINA would give fresh graduates and current students, global recognition of their abilities.
UET Peshawar is one of the leading institutes of engineering education in Pakistan. UET Peshawar hosts some the most technologically advanced labs in Pakistan with focus on cybersecurity, artificial intelligence and cloud computing, working under Planning Commission and driven by Higher Education Commission (HEC). Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is the crux of all advanced technologies and interdisciplinary research is unthinkable without state-of-the-art ICT capabilities.
According to Huawei Global Industry Vision, the number of global connected devices is anticipated to increase exponentially and hit the 100 billion mark by 2025, which can cause severe capacity issues. A major challenge in ICT advancement is lack of skilled ICT workforce and unawareness of the latest devices and protocols. Establishment of training facility in the talent rich region of Peshawar is the need of the hour.
Objectives
HAINA at UET Peshawar has been developed to promote young professionals, and the following strategic ambitions are targeted:
- Encourage youngsters to execute group tasks, understand dynamics of teamwork, work synergistically and learn gelling together as a squad
- Facilitate practical work, provide equipment for experimentation, develop psychomotor skills
- Deliver content in interactive manner, promote healthy discourse, allow questioning and cross-questioning, elaborate queries effectively
- Relate theory to practice, illustrate concepts with examples, use historical events for referencing
