Post Graduate Program Review (PGPR) 2023-24

QEC UET Peshawar held the Post Graduate Program Review (PGPR) 2023-24 on 27 June 2024. Prof. Dr. Fazlur Rahman, University of Peshawar, and Dr. Naveed Jan, Director, QEC, Shuhada-e-APS University of Technology Nowshera were the external reviewers. Dr. Saeed Gul, Professor, Department of Chemical Engineering, and Dr. Amjad Ali, Coordinator Jalozai Campus were the internal reviewers. Dr. Safdar Nawaz, Director QEC, gave a presentation to the reviewers about the university profile and PGPR statistics, compiled by the QEC team. Postgraduate Advisors of all programs briefed the reviewers about their respective programs. The reviewers visited the Student Service Centre, where Dr. Ajmal Khan, Director Post Graduate Studies, gave a briefing on Student related issues.
HEC 2-Day Training Workshop on Microsoft Dynamics 365
12-13 June 2024
A two-day training workshop on Microsoft Dynamics 365 was designed to give IT professionals and educators an understanding of how to achieve more with Dynamics 365. Topics included Getting Started with Describe Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management, Describe Dynamics Finance, Describe Dynamics 365 Commerce, Describe Dynamics 365 Human Resources, Describe Project Operations & Describe Shared Features. Office Assistant, Syed Abdul Haseeb Shah attended the training.
Turnitin Feedback Studio Training Webinar

The Turnitin Feedback Studio team hosted an online training webinar on 15 May 2024 from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm. The purpose was to highlight the role of Turnitin Instructors and elaborate on the Similarity and AI reports. The Director and the Deputy Director QEC attended the training.
QEC Visited by Former Director Dr. Imran Ahmad

Former Director QEC, Engr. Dr. Muhammad Imran Ahmad was invited to QEC to give a tribute to his services and benefit from his experiences. He showed satisfaction over the growth of QEC during the recent years and was confident that QEC shall be able to enhance the standard of processes in the university through automation and digitization. The Director QEC also presented a souvenir to the Engr. Dr. Muhammad Imran Ahmad.
Meeting with Former Director, Dr. Iftikhar Ahmad

The Director QEC met the former Director QEC of UET Peshawar, Prof. Dr. Iftikhar Ahmad, (currently Director QEC, Sarhad University) at Khyber Medical University Peshawar on the eve of the Progress Review Meeting & Consultative Workshops. The two discussed how QEC evolved at UET Peshawar over the years and exchanged pleasantries. Both agreed on continued cooperation between UET Peshawar and Sarhad University in the future.
HEC Progress Review Meeting and PSG Training Workshop

QAA-HEC organized an event, Progress Review Meeting and Consultative Workshops for Heads of QECs. The revised quality framework PSG-2023 has been designed to encourage and facilitate continuous improvement, proactive contextual problem-solving, engagement with stakeholders, and adherence to international standards. The Director QEC, UET Peshawar participated in the event held at Khyber Medical University, Peshawar. The Director QEC received a certificate from the Minister for Higher Education, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr. Meena Khan, for his contribution to the workshop.
Postgraduate Program Review at CECOS University

The Director QEC visited CECOS University as a reviewer of the postgraduate programs on 4 April 2024. The review was conducted to review the postgraduate program for the session Fall 2022 and Spring 2023 to ensure effective quality of programs. During the visit, 10 MS programs and 3 PhD programs were reviewed.
Training on HEC Undergraduate Education Policy 2023

A training and brainstorming session for the HoDs of the academic departments of UET Peshawar regarding the recommendations of the Undergraduate Policy Review Committee was held in the conference hall on 28 Feb. 2024. The review findings of the Undergraduate education policy in light of guidelines from accreditation councils were presented by Director QEC, Dr. Safdar Nawaz Khan.
Capacity Building Session Regarding Higher Education Statistics

The Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) team along with representatives of Estt-1, Estt-2, Estt-4, CMS, Admissions and Examinations participated in an online orientation/capacity building session regarding Higher Education Statistics (HES) for the year 2022-23 regarding Degree Information (PQR), Enrollment, Passout, Faculty, Staff etc. The season was organized by HEDR division, Higher Education Commission (HEC).
Farewell to Mr. Gul Aftab

Mr. Gul Aftab, Junior Clerk at QEC, was given a farewell at the Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) on the last day of his services at QEC, UET Peshawar. He expressed gratitude for the support of his colleagues. QEC team wished him all the best in his future endeavors.
Focal Person Session on Course Authoring in HEC DLSEI

The QEC team attended a focal person session on Course Authoring in the DLSEI Coursera for HEIs. The main issues covered were Course Authoring in Coursera Portal, along with guidelines on features, administrative functions, and course planning, particularly for MOOC design.
Webinar on the Revamped Quality Assurance Framework

The Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) of HEC has embarked on a collaborative journey with QAA UK and engaged extensively with key stakeholders from a multitude of Pakistani universities to meticulously craft a robust Quality Assurance Framework for Higher Education. In this regard, QAA arranged a webinar on the Revamped Quality Assurance Framework for Higher Education, that was attended by the QEC team.
HEC Training Session for Turnitin Administrators

The QEC team attended a training session organized by Turnitin and HEC titled “Understanding the Role of Turnitin Administrator.” The purpose of the training was to enlighten the administrators and users regarding guidelines for administrators, instructors, and students, admin best practices with tips and tricks, step-by-step instructions, system status, AI writing detection toolkit for administrators, etc.
Reception of Afghan Delegation

An official Afghan delegation headed by Dr. Nazar Muhammad Irfan, Director of Foreign Affairs and Scholarships, Ministry of Higher Education, Afghanistan including Afghan officials from the Afghan International Islamic University (AIIU) accompanied by Mr. Jehanzeb, Project Director HEC visited UET Peshawar. Dr. Safdar Nawaz, Director QEC UET Peshawar gave a detailed presentation of UET Peshawar's academic and research activities.
3-Day Training Workshop on Quality of Education

The Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC), UET Peshawar arranged a three-day training workshop on "Improving Quality of Teaching in Engineering Education" from 20-22 September 2023. The training is aimed at providing updated knowledge on HEC guidelines on anti-plagiarism and the best pedagogical practices in engineering education to the young faculty.
Meeting Regarding Preparation for Fall Semester of 2023

The Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Iftikhar Hussain convened a high-level meeting with the senior management and officials at the Conference Room of UET Peshawar. The objective of the meeting was to discuss the issues related to preparation for the Fall Semester of 2023 of Undergraduate and Postgraduate programs and financial planning for the next academic year. The agenda of the meeting was prepare by the QEC.
HEC Online Session on Graduate Education Policy 2023

The QEC team participated in an online session on the revised Graduate Education Policy (GEP) - 2023 followed by a Q&A session. During the session, the key aspects of the revised GEP with significance, implications, and opportunities for academic excellence were discussed. The session was conducted by the Quality Assurance Division, HEC Pakistan.
